Actinic Keratosis, also called ‘AK’ for short by dermatologists, is a premalignant skin lesion as a result from sun exposure. It appears usually as a red, and scaly lesion, most often found on sun exposed areas, such as the hand, forearms, face and head of bald men. There is a 20% risk that these lesions may transform to cancer, squamous cell carcinoma, and therefore, most of them are removed easily by dermatologists, through either liquid nitrogen or excision. A plastic surgeon can also do the job.
