Acne Microbiology

The use of microbiology in acne is not common, however, cultures of bacteria or yeast can be used in order to identify diseases that look like acne, such as folliculitis. Folliculitis is usually found around hair follicles however. With cultures, the laboratory tries to growth the organism found on a piece of skin (superficial sample) on a plate with food for the bug, called a media.
