Describing the pathogenesis and development of pemphigus vulgaris. Descriptions and explanations of pathogenic autoantibodies against adhesion molecules found in skin, the desmogleins. Furthermore, an explanation of autoimmunity as the mechanism of autoantibody production in pemphigus. Antibodies against plakins and desmoglein in paraneoplastic pemphigus are also described.
