History of Psoriasis

The history of Psoriasis is difficult to completely elucidate. Here we discuss bits and pieces of the history of psoriasis and try to shed light on this rare, but severely debilitating disease. The first known description of psoriasis was from Hippocrates, who seemed to have grouped the disease with leprosy, into dry, scaly eruptions. Moreover, the first to use the term psoriasis, was the great physician, Galen. The word 'psora' comes from the Greek word, that describes 'scaliness.'
