Find information on keloids, which are abnormal growth of fibrous tissue. Keloids occur at previous sites of trauma, common after surgeries and after razor burn of the beard. Earlobes, sternum, shoulders are also common sites for keloids. Keloids are dense scars with a smooth sruface which is purple and red in color. Keloids can grow extensively beyond the site of injury to involve a large amount of skin. Treatment is with intralesional steroids, laser, excision and silica gel.
