Ichthyosis Vulgaris is a hereditary (genetic) disorderof hyperkerotic skin, which leads to dry skin.
Autosomal dominant disorder (only need one gene/from one parent to have the disorder)
Found in many atopic dermatitis individuals
Clinically is seen as excessive scaling, most often affecting the shins
Effects mainly the extremities

but spares the palms, soles, and flexure creases such as the skin between your elbows
Skin appears "fish-scale-like" without any signs of inflammation, such as redness or itching
found in about 0.3% of the population

associated with other skin diseases, such as atopy (asthma and eczema/dermatitis)
