Lichen simplex chronicus is a very common condition, not only in atopic dermatitis individuals, but also in the general population. It is caused by repeated rubbing and scratching, which leads to a leathery, thickened skin, with prominent creases and markings. This most commonly occurs after chronic rubbing/scratching of itchy areas.
