One of the most common causes of stretch mark is when the skin stretched to the point of breaking down. It’s like similar to elastic rubber band loosing its elasticity. This happens due to a lack of collagen and elastin in the skin. Stretch marks can also be the result of tone, fine lines and wrinkles. The marks of the stretches usually show up in the epidermal layer of the skin when there is a breakdown or loss of elastin and collagen fibers or excessive stretching in the skin. Stretch marks are very common with women mainly aggravated by rapid growth, pregnancy, natural hormonal changes within the body etc. Some times severe marks appear in the skin due to some medications including steroids like cortisone. In cases of pregnancy and growth spurts the main reason for the occurrence of stretch marks are the damaged dermal collagen and blood dilation that results in the formation of red or purple colored early marks. This phenomenon over time can lead to the loss of pigment producing melanocyte that produces the melanin pigments and may give rise to the formation of the white or hypo pigmented scars that are commonly associated with mature stretch marks.
After the use of pulsed dye lasers for the treatment of stretch marks sophisticated studies show both photo treatment and laser treatments may reduce stretch marks. It is very important to point out that many treatments are necessary in order to improve stretch marks and sometimes stretch marks do not completely resolve, although they are very difficult to see after treatment at worse. In this regard the pulsed dye laser therapy for the treatment of stretch marks has been proved to be absolutely safe and effective. Other than the pulsed dye lasers there are also several other forms of cosmetic lasers that have been used in the removal of stretch marks completely. Not only as an aid for removal of stretch marks, lasers can also be used to stimulate new collagen growth and fill the stretch marks from the bottom. Moreover the energy from the lasers is found to be absorbed in the dermal layer of the skin that assists the production of collagen.
